Important Info for Members about COVID19

We know many of you have questions and concerns about COVID19 and how it affects meetings, and in stressful time we need our fellow AAs more than ever. So we want to offer you some suggestions on how to keep healthy, stay connected & be of service.

Stay Healthy!

Here are a short version of CDC guidelines, more details are here:

1. Take steps to protect yourself

Clean your hands often

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

  • Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community.

2. Take steps to protect others

Stay home if you’re sick

Cover coughs and sneezes

  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.

  • Throw used tissues in the trash.

  • Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Wear a facemask if you are sick

  • If you are sick:  You should wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office.

  • If you are NOT sick: You do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick.

Clean and disinfect

  • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.

  • If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

Stay Connected!

Just because we are practicing these precautions doesn't mean we don't care about you or the fellowship. In the event that buildings close down, or you social distance to protect yourself or others, we will set up online meetings and use phone and email lists.

To get ready for online meetings, download the free app Zoom on your phone or computer. You can find information on how to do that here. If you need help getting set up let us know and someone can help get you started.

If you haven't joined our mailing/phone list, please do that on the Contact page. If you want a copy of our phone and email list, please email us.

Be of Service!

Service is always part of recovery, and now is no different. Examples of service you can do during COVID19 include:

  • volunteering to wipe down meeting space before and after meetings with cleaning materials

  • helping a member get set up with zoom

  • letting a member facetime into the meeting on your phone

  • calling or texting members on the phone list you in between meetings

  • volunteering to update the phone/email list

Thanks for being part of Nantucket AA!
